Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast-paced team. The Assistant Buyer role will support the Buyer and Senior Buyer to bring the most compelling range and great value products to our customers.
As an Assistant Buyer within the Built In and Integrated team, you will be working within one of the most exciting categories in MDA building relationships with brands like Bosch, Samsung and Hotpoint who are at the leading edge of cooking technology. This role will be responsible for managing the range at SKU level and working closely with the Senior Buyer, Merchandising, Online and GTM teams to drive sales and profitability of the category. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who has a sharp eye for detail, enjoys working in a busy department, and has the ability to work autonomously.
To support your development, you’ll have the opportunity to complete a Level 4 apprenticeship in Buying & Merchandising! You'll be able to start your apprenticeship after 3 months of joining the team (subject to eligibility).
Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
* Helping to manage supplier relationships in line with the category strategy
* Selecting and negotiating product ranges and pricing
* Keeping tabs on the competition so we can set competitive prices
* Analysing trading performance and recommending actions to drive our business
* Supporting the Senior Buyer in negotiating product ranges – cost pricing, additional terms, exclusivity, distribution, stock availability
* Pricing the product range in line with agreed category CPI targets
You will need:
* 1-2 years' experience of being part of a buying function (as an Assistant Buyer or Administrator) and a great working knowledge of technical products
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* To be organised, analytical and numerate with good judgment
* Strong commercial awareness and a sense of customer needs
* Marketing/Merchandising/Retail/Business Degree
