Residential Children’s Practitioner – Level 2
The Den Children’s Home - Norwich
At Norfolk County Council, our commitment to providing proven, quality, holistic residential care for children and young people with disabilities aims to achieve excellent outcomes and lasting results. We are passionate about the provision of creative and ambitious opportunities for our young people. Our Services are well regarded, and we are proud of our reputation for ensuring the best outcomes for disabled children.
As part of an exciting expansion programme, we are currently establishing a new residential home within Norwich called 'The Den', which will provide holistic care for young people with learning disabilities who have complex health needs and/or challenging behaviours.
'The Den' has the potential to provide a home for two young people or to operate as a sole occupancy home. The Service will have the use of its own vehicle and is also situated in a Norwich suburb which has good bus links as well as being close to the rail station in the city. The location means that the children who live there will also have good access to local shops, parks and other conveniently situated leisure facilities such as ten-pin bowling venues, swimming pools and cinemas, as well as providing easy access to the Norfolk coast.
What is it like to work for Norfolk County Council Residential services? The following testimonial is from a current employee within the Children with Disabilities Residential Service:
“My role as a Residential Children’s Practitioner involves providing the best individualised care for the young people, providing social and independence opportunities, enabling the young people to flourish in our environment.
Within my team, we are all driven by the same aim, ensuring children and young people with disabilities who stay with us are safe, listened to and enjoy their time. The staff and young people make the workplace an enjoyable environment, with lots of laughter and never a dull moment. It is a privilege watching the young people develop and grow when in our care.
I have worked for Norfolk County Council for 6 years, I have always felt supported and listened to within my role by the management and staff team around me. As well as my job satisfaction, I benefit from a generous annual leave entitlement, career development opportunities, pay enhancements for shift work; bank holidays and weekends, a pension scheme and many other benefits promoted with Norfolk County Council.”
We are now recruiting for this exciting new Service and there is the opportunity to become involved at the very outset. We need highly motivated, resilient and positive individuals who possess humour, tenacity and empathy to help children and young people with disabilities to flourish and reach their full potential.
The rewards from the direct work with the young people can be endless, but in addition, you will receive a thorough initial induction and training programme as well as ongoing training opportunities, the option to join a highly regarded pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, support and supervision.
