We are looking for a Principal Hydrogeologist to join our Environmental Compliance and Ground Engineering Team.
Purpose of Role:
Responsible for the management of the Water Science (Hydrogeology/ Hydrochemistry) of the SW Environment Team. Acting as a Project Manager, contributing towards the success of the office through the effective and efficient delivery of projects, development of key client relationships, and the securing of new business.

SW Environment Team Section Heads and Directors, Associated Technical teams across the Region and Division, Support Functions (Finance, HR, Bids and Marketing)
External:
Existing and New Clients, Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales
Key Responsibilities:
1. Plan, review and manage own projects ensuring client requirements and deadlines are met in accordance with the QA system.
2. Take accountability for own projects, monitoring both performance and finances.
3. Quality control the output of projects in accordance with the approved QA system including preparing project plans and fee agreements.
4. Ensure quality advice is provided and work meets the required standard.
5. Contribute to the development of the SW Environment Team business including work winning and marketing.
6. Provide weekly/monthly reports as requested by Technical Director.
7. Support client management in conjunction with Directors.
8. Responsible for signing timesheets/holidays of staff responsible for.
9. Responsible for interfacing with other section heads and Directors to ensure appropriate use and deployment of staff and resources to meet the team's operational and project needs.
10. Undertake appraisals and development of direct staff reportees.
11. Supervise and support junior members of staff where relevant.

1. Leadership skills and ability to manage a team.
2. Strong report writing skills.
3. Good communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills.
4. Ability to support/supervise junior members of the team.
5. Good financial and project management skills.
6. Ability to build and maintain working relationships both internally and externally.
7. Ability to identify opportunities for securing new business/clients.
8. Responsible for contributing towards own professional development.
9. Good technical knowledge in area of expertise.
