The Graphene Engineering & Innovation Centre (GEIC) is a new facility developed to establish the UK as a graphene research and technology 'hub' that will lead to the rapid commercialisation of graphene and 2D technologies in the UK. The Institutes are part of an overall investment, building on the strong, and rapidly-expanding, UK research in this field and aim to take this research through to commercial success. Funded through EPSRC and ERDF, they will offer access to specialist facilities and equipment including state-of-the-art cleanrooms which enable the simulation of manufacturing processes. This world-class shared facility for graphene research and commercialisation activities will be accessible by both researchers and businesses.
Applications are invited for the position of Research Technician, which is a full-time position. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to get involved in this exciting project from an early stage, in a field of work that is constantly growing and always at the cutting edge of technology.
This is a varied job, involving a wide range of different activities and duties to play an important part in running our state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities to the highest standards. You will work with applications teams in the GEIC Energy Laboratories and facilities and work effectively with the GEIC technical support, to deliver a first-class up-scale facility. You will be providing H&S services to world-class researchers, playing an important role in the timeliness and success of their experiments. You will also be responsible for ensuring regular/annual inspection and reporting schedules are carried out in accordance with the Faculty of Science and Engineering (FSE) expectations.
