What is the Role?
Do you want to power change? SSEN are recruiting for a Head of Operations who will have operational accountability for our electrical network assets and customer service in Thames Valley.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the successful candidate will be accountable for the delivery of customer journeys including supply interruption, general enquiries and minor connections in the Thames Valleys Region including:
1. Providing a 24/7 operational response service 365 days a year for the network, through direct team delivery as well as contractor Service Agreements across all assets and disciplines.
2. Leading, developing, and empowering staff and third-party contractors to deliver and perform to their full potential within a positive but challenging environment which encourages people to succeed and excel.
3. Delivering exceptional customer satisfaction through the regional operational teams; driving customer value through innovation and leading a continuous improvement philosophy.
4. Developing and embedding a business safety culture through commitments defined in the SSE influencing behaviours.
5. Developing and leading a customer performance culture which ensures that all current objectives and targets are met but also motivates staff to continuously review performance, improve processes, innovate and develop capabilities to exceed targets.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, you would ideally have:
1. Experienced engineer within infrastructure/utilities such as a distribution network or similar.
2. Experience of managing multiple teams, projects, programmes and change either through direct employee workforce and/or third-party contractors to meet targets.
3. Experience of developing/managing delivery of business plans and budgets.
4. Knowledge and understanding of the UK regulated environment, particularly licence obligations for electricity distribution with detailed knowledge of Customer Service obligations.
5. Experience of communicating inclusively, both formally and informally in a variety of formats to audiences with varying needs with political awareness and ability to network (internally and externally) to represent the interests of SSEN and the development of customer engagement.
This role requires a UK driving license and as it is an operational role be within a commutable distance for emergency response.
