About the role
We are seeking a Polymer Process Engineer to join our Engineering team in Westhill. This is an exciting, new role where you will provide strong direction on the design for manufacture methodology, focusing on ease of manufacturing, cost sensitivity and lead times of our products. In this position you will also provide input to internal JFD manufacturing processes improve efficiencies, review assembly techniques, equipment and testing times to support new product introduction.
We will look to you to identify and challenge existing manufacturing methodologies and refine our engineering design to deliver different manufacturing techniques, cost efficiencies and improve product quality.
Your day-to-day activities could look like the following:
* Evaluating and analysing product designs and materials for most efficient method of manufacture against quantities required
* Investigating and collaborating with suppliers on different manufacturing techniques and support transition from conventional manufacturing methods to alternative and emerging manufacturing processes.
* Checking detailed manufacturing drawings and documentation to ensure that detailed information on drawings and specifications is accurate to manufacture and produce the part
* Supporting in design reviews by assessing and providing input to manufacturing methodologies and processes and costings
* Assuring product and process quality by designing testing and inspection methods
* Responsible for the development and introduction of new tools and equipment and ensure’s correct operation; trains others to operate new tooling/equipment
* Creating manufacturing engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, focused input on design documentation and assembly instructions, testing methods, and reports.
What do you need?
We’re looking for professionals with knowledge, skills and experience in the following:
* Strong knowledge and experience of identifying and challenging existing manufacturing methodologies on polymer components with respect to manufacturing technique’s including but not limited to moulding, 3D printing, machining and alternative processes.
* Good knowledge and understanding of emerging and existing manufacturing techniques of rubber, plastics, metallic and fabric goods and finishing coatings
* Proven mechanical design/manufacturing methodology skills for a production environment.
Proven analytical and communication skills
* Maintains knowledge of new and developing manufacturing technology
* Previous product and production manufacturing engineering experience
* Previous diving equipment design experience or any relevant diving qualifications would be advantageous
* Manufacturing engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
