Job Description
Position: Electrical Design Engineer
Location: Leicester
Salary: Up to 55k
Responsibilities:
1. Production of detailed functional design specifications for gas turbine control systems.
2. Development of control system hardware for turbine control applications.
3. Specifying electrical hardware components for control systems.
4. Production of wiring diagrams and general arrangement drawings for control panels.
5. Liaising with customers and sub-contractors.
6. Production of test procedures/specifications.
7. Production of procurement specifications.
8. Testing electrical control panels.
9. Supporting installation and commissioning of control/instrumentation and auxiliaries systems on gas-turbine driven generating sets, at UK on-shore power stations, off-shore oil rigs, and FPSO locations, as well as various other international sites.
10. Completing all required documentation including site reports and software/product revisions to quality standards.
11. Commissioning of machines after service/maintenance visits.
Essential Experience:
1. Knowledge of how industrial PLC systems work within a control system application.
2. Knowledge of field instrumentation such as pressure transmitters, thermocouples, control valves, etc.
3. Understanding different field device control signals and their implementations, such as 4-20mA.
4. Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD/AutoCAD-Electrical.
5. Formal qualifications or relevant experience in Electrical Engineering.
6. Good levels of practical experience in wiring and electrical fault finding.
7. Knowledge of different types of electrical test equipment and their usage, such as multi-meters and signal injectors.
8. Very good customer relation skills.
9. Ability to prioritize workloads to deadlines.
10. Ability to extract information from specifications.
11. Ability to work under own initiative, and as part of, or leading a team on site.
12. Must hold a current, clean driving license.
13. Full passport.
Desired Experience:
1. Power industry knowledge.
2. Experience of HV or generator protection systems.
3. Good working knowledge of PLC-based control and HMI systems software and hardware (Rockwell and Siemens S7).
4. Formal qualification in the use of AutoCAD-Electrical.
5. TUV/SUD Functional Safety qualification or equivalent.
6. Design & Implementation of Fire & Gas protection systems.
7. Good knowledge of gas turbines, rotating machinery, and hydraulic systems.
8. CCNSG Passport to Safety.
9. Offshore Vantage Card.
