We are currently looking for an Operations Manager – Aggregate Blocks to be a key member of the Blocks leadership team, contributing to the overall strategic plan for the business with accountability for the safety, leadership, development, and performance of the Aggregate Block sites.
You will deliver a transformational plan to fundamentally reposition the scale and performance of the UK operation and unlock the full potential of CRH/Tarmac capability, working to build links with CRH worldwide manufacturing businesses enabling us to deliver best-in-class performance.
Leading the business optimisation plan, you will generate tangible performance improvements across all operational areas whilst identifying scope and delivering strategic capital projects to innovate and transform operational performance.
Main Responsibilities
As the successful Operations Manager – Aggregate Blocks, you will report to the Product Line Director and be responsible for leading operational performance growth, minimising waste, and delivering energy reduction and decarbonisation operational targets, executing strategy for carbon neutrality by 2050.
1. Leading the Tarmac Safety Strategy, driving tangible improvement in relation to zero tolerance of accidents, instilling a culture of H&S best practice.
2. Owning the P&L for all manufacturing sites delivering against agreed budgets and optimisation targets.
3. Managing delivery of production targets, delivering targets for cost of production, quality, OTIF, waste, OEE, energy usage, and working capital.
4. Effectively managing, coaching, and developing direct reports, driving full employee engagement alongside owning the succession plan and building talent at all levels within the structure.
5. Ensuring policies and procedure requirements are fully compliant with legislation, and changes are effectively communicated.
6. Maintaining training plans for all operational staff, organising necessary training whilst driving the early careers programme.
7. Ensuring the capability and appropriate training of all direct reports, production of annual performance contracts which support P&L aims for Blocks Operations.
8. Direct and support Technical Lead in delivering exceptional quality performance with a focus on complaints, cost of raw materials, and new product development.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal Operations Manager – Aggregate Blocks is able to build relationships with teams across the business, has good communication skills, and can influence and lead teams creating a positive culture. You will be able to continually drive performance and improvements within the business whilst maintaining customer focus within a high-pressure environment.
You will also possess the following:
* Degree or similar qualification in Production Management or Engineering (desirable).
* NEBOSH or IOSH.
* Experience of running a team.
The role covers various sites across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Rotherham, with a site also located in East Sussex.
