Maintenance Technician
Location: Oxford
Salary: £26,444 - £30,487 per annum
The Centre is seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic team player to support the day-to-day operations of the Centre's Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Technician will be a key member of a small team alongside the Maintenance Manager and other colleagues and will work with the team on all aspects of maintenance of the Centre estate, plant, and equipment.
The Role
Maintenance:
1. Work as part of the Maintenance Team to ensure a high standard of site maintenance and safety.
2. Carry out routine inspections of plant, machinery, and equipment in the Centre, and bring any problems to the attention of the Maintenance Manager.
3. Follow a planned maintenance programme to ensure the regular servicing of machinery and equipment.
4. Follow a planned routine for checking and making repairs or adjustments to fixtures and fittings.
5. Respond to reports of faults and deal with any maintenance problem within own capabilities.
6. Clear gutters, drains, gullies, and downpipes.
7. Undertake emergency, reactive, and proactive maintenance tasks at other Centre properties in Oxford.
8. Report any maintenance fault which needs further support or is beyond capabilities.
9. Assist contractors in completing diagnostic and remedial work, referring any issues to the Maintenance Manager as appropriate.
10. Maintain the fountains and water features within the Centre, ensuring they function correctly and are kept clean.
Administration and Monitoring:
1. Complete and maintain Estates associated records and documents.
2. Monitor the Centre's Building Management System ensuring any faults or issues are quickly responded to.
3. Keep all plant rooms clean and tidy.
4. Keep the workshop clean and tidy, ensuring all tools are appropriately maintained and accounted for.
5. Move equipment and furniture as requested, with appropriate assistance if necessary.
6. Assist with Fire drills and respond appropriately to the fire alarm.
7. Provide out of hours cover on a roster basis.
8. Any other reasonable task as requested by your line manager or other senior member of staff.
Qualifications
1. Relevant trade qualifications required such as City and Guild, NVQ certificate or equivalent experience or having served an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship.
2. PASMA, IPAF, and First Aid at Work are desirable.
Skills
1. Able to read, understand and work from drawings and technical specifications.
2. Ability to prioritise and multi-task to meet deadlines.
3. Proven attention to detail.
4. Excellent written and verbal skills (English).
5. Evidence of the ability to work well in a team.
6. Good computer skills (MS Office).
7. Experience, ability, and understanding of monitoring plant state and interpreting alarms.
8. Experience of using power equipment, able to carry reasonable loads unassisted and work at height using ladders and tower scaffolding.
9. Able to demonstrate a wide skill set in all aspects of building maintenance including fault-finding, diagnostic activities, and remedial works.
