Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential Criteria
1. Degree level education or equivalent in relevant related subject area
2. First Level Registered Nurse
3. Teaching and Assessing Course or equivalent
Desirable Criteria
1. Suitable Management qualification
2. Leadership / management qualification
Skills
Essential Criteria
1. Ability to lead and direct clinical teams and proactively manage performance to ensure delivery of key operational standards
2. Presentation/associated IT skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications
3. Ability to write clear and concise reports and present information relevant to sphere of responsibility within agreed timescales
4. Excellent communicator with effective persuasion and negotiation skills and the ability to motivate and influence others
5. Ability to manage projects and complex tasks requiring analytical and problem-solving skills
Desirable Criteria
1. Advanced Communication skills
2. Experience at working within surgical/elective/planned care services at a senior nursing level
Knowledge and Experience
Essential Criteria
1. Experience of working in NHS at a senior level
2. Operational management experience of working within nursing services
3. Budgetary management, cost improvement planning, and quality assessment
4. Good track record of internal and external partnership working
5. Management of employee relations in accordance with HR policies and procedures
6. Practical experience of leading change management agendas
7. Understanding clinical governance, risk assessment, appraisal, and mitigation

9. Demonstrate a working knowledge of acute surgical, planned care, and ambulatory care, and the subsequent management of elective inpatients.
