We are now looking for a Assembly Fitter to join our team working for a better future. The position is permanent, and the preferred location is Havant, UK.
This role suits someone with experience in hydraulics, industrial pipe fitting, heavy mechanical assembly, high-pressure testing (air and water), and assembly and process testing of composite and metal work assemblies.
This is a physical role, but reasonable adjustments can be made to support the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
1. Assembly of heavy-duty shaftline seals
o Positioning, assembly, and alignment of large multi-component seals using hand tools and lifting equipment
o Testing of large multi-component assemblies – high-pressure water and air
o Ensuring assemblies meet drawing specifications, torque settings, alignment, and test results
o Supporting engineering in development, assembly, and testing
o Cutting, bonding, and assembling rubber components
2. Collaborate with manufacturing engineering teams to resolve non-conforming products
3. Communicate with operations teams to ensure proactive actions meet OTIF (On Time In Full)
4. Engage in continuous process improvement
5. Perform all duties safely following H&S procedures
6. Support stores and packing teams based on business demand
7. Cut and bond rubber parts to specifications
8. Coordinate between Assembly, Rubber, and Stores operations based on workload
9. Main role involves assembling and testing seals to drawings, and rubber parts bonding
Qualifications:
* Experience in a production/engineering environment
* Understanding of health and safety procedures
* Mechanical/assembly aptitude
* Ability to read and interpret drawings
* Stores experience (desirable)
* Effective communication skills
* Flexibility to work across logistics operations
* Clean driver’s license
* Educational background to college standard or solid manufacturing experience
* Proficiency with industry-standard computer packages (Microsoft, MRP systems)
Desirable Skills:
* Strong mechanical aptitude
* Knowledge of health and safety procedures
* Experience with high-pressure testing machinery (air and water)
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings
