Cedars Ward is a 10 bed organic assessment ward in Oldham. We deliver outstanding care to people who are living with dementia who are admitted for an assessment of their needs. Our aim is to help people live well with dementia by working with families, carers and the wider MDT to manage the distressing symptoms they are suffering from. We will then work with the families and carers on a discharge pathway that supports both the people living with dementia and their families and carers. Main duties of the job
Role Summary:
As a qualified nurse you would be a vital member of the team in delivering person centred care to those admitted onto the ward. You will be working with people who can be very distressed and display some very challenging behaviours. It will be your responsibility to provide reassurance and distraction, using care and compassion, for the people living with dementia. You will also be responsible for a wide range of tasks such as care planning and implementation, risk assessment, physical health assessment, liaising with the wider MDT, ward rounds and you will be a named nurse.

Education / Qualifications
* First level registered nurse, RMN or RN in Mental Health
* Must have a good understanding of both innumeracy and language skills.
* Qualification in psychosocial interventions an advantage
* Completed Preparation for Mentorship
Experience
* Current experience of adult acute inpatient wards
Knowledge
* Knowledge base in terms of this client group
Skills and Abilities
* Be able to perform required duties of the post.
* Must be flexible and able to work on an internal rota basis across nights and days
* Experience of working within a psychosocial model of care delivery
Work Related Circumstances
* Must be flexible and able to work on an internal rota basis across nights and days
* Must be willing to develop competencies within the scope of professional practice to meet service needs
* Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
