Hours: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible. You'll be working around 1-2 days per week, rising to 3 days per week during the school summer holidays.
Interviews date: 30th April and 1st May.

What it's like to work here
You’ll be part of a small Visitor Experience team, working together to deliver events and experiences and give a great welcome to many of our 250,000 annual visitors. Reporting to the Programming & Partnerships Manager, you'll work closely with the Visitor Experience Officer and Cycle Hire team. All ages and abilities are welcome to join in and you’ll be keen to think of ways of making activities inclusive and using different areas of the property to broaden the variety of the offer.
You'll have resources and collateral designed for Summer of Play to use, as well as regional and national guidance, with a support group of peers from other properties to help you design and evaluate the program.
Wallington is a large property set in the rural countryside of Northumberland. Set around a historic house and courtyard that includes a café, shops, cycle hire and lawns for visitors to play and relax on. A short distance away are four play areas, woodland walks and a beautiful walled garden.
What you'll be doing
You'll be outdoors, meeting new people and engaging people of all ages in play and sports. We're looking to recruit a seasonal Active Outdoors Assistant to the team to lead the Summer of Play activities across the school summer holidays, come rain or shine. You'll work closely with the Visitor Experience team to help design a range of daily activities, creating a program that inspires visitors to return. You'll be responsible for the daily set up and delivery of activities to our visiting audience throughout the summer.
You'll be talking to lots of different people from all backgrounds, putting people first and understanding the diverse needs of our audiences, meaning everyone receives great service.
