Looking to make your mark with your data science skills in the retail data world?
We are looking for someone to support data operations round IGD's commercial products. The role requires a broad data science skill set, combining expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, forecasting, data modeling, and visualisation. You will be responsible for leading the development of our data methodologies, ensuring the quality and impact of our data offerings across multiple business areas. This will involve close collaboration with data managers, analysts, and business partners to evolve and refine our data solutions.
The responsibilities
IGD's data in Retail Analysis, our biggest Online Insight Service:
1. Accountable for the robustness of our data offer on Retail Analysis, working with the data and analyst teams to evolve the quality and impact of our data.
2. Accountable for our data methodology and forecasting, ensuring the use of best practice and the identification and implementation of training required.
3. Identification and delivery of the steps to improve our data offer and update efficiency, including adding new data, data structure and ETL aspects.
4. Act as a consultant to the business, identifying opportunities to enhance our retail data products and ensure they better align the needs of our clients.
Maintenance of our macroeconomic and datasets
1. Ownership of all our macroeconomic data, including the research, creation and forecasting of variables, and ways to integrate into content.
2. Identification and delivery of new or enhanced models and methodologies that will increase the value of our data proposition.
3. Working with the international team of retail analysts to ensure we track the key economic issues and the implications for grocery operators and manufacturers globally.

1. Intellectually robust, ideally with a numerical degree with an interest in economics.

5. Self-motivated learner, with an interest in keeping up with the latest forecasting and modelling techniques.
Background
1. Experience in building macro-economic forecasting models and carrying out primary research.
2. Experience of leading the deployment of Excel and BI based reporting solutions for external and/or internal users.
3. Awareness of how the food and grocery industry works, in particular the macro influences that can affect sector and channel growth.
4. Relevant experience preferably within a retailer, manufacturer, consultancy or industry body.
Business skills
1. Ability to motivate as well as compromise in order to achieve the best result.
2. Strong project management skills, able to own an idea from concept to delivery.
3. Capable of impacting and influencing audiences in a variety of situations.
4. An ability to interpret customers' needs and translate research into actionable implications.
5. Awareness of the bigger picture with a strategic outlook.
6. Be an excellent networker with strong ability to build relationships and operate with diplomacy and integrity at all levels.
Technical skills
1. Advanced programming skills in Python and SQL.
2. Ability to build forecast and prediction models using Python.
3. Knowledge of Forecasting techniques.
4. Machine learning techniques to support classification and segmentation projects.
5. Proficiency with BI solutions, with a preference for Power BI, encompassing both the creation and deployment of online reports.
6. Advanced Excel skills and intermediate VBA knowledge.
7. Familiarity with econometrics and proficiency in econometric software.
