Applications Engineer
Responsibilities:
1. Design plant layouts and engineering solutions for the Sales department using 3D software (SolidWorks) and 2D software.
2. Learn about and use 3D software and related applications to improve the clarity and appeal of our Sales designs.
3. Offer design and technical support to the Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Projects, and R&D departments as needed.
Sales and Marketing Duties
1. Create 3D layouts of company equipment for sales projects.
2. Ensure our Sales designs and layouts are visually appealing, occupy a minimum footprint, follow the Company's design rules, and offer a clear concept to our customers.
3. Understand incoming enquiries and begin technical tasks, particularly drawing work, without waiting for instruction.
4. Work alone to configure equipment and systems and set these out in 3D for the Sales department.
5. Create a library of 3D, plug-and-play Sales models for all company products.
6. Create low-res shells of the Engineering modules for General Arrangement drawings.
7. Produce designs and 3D views for the Company's Marketing tools and OMIs.
8. Follow developments in 3D software and use this knowledge to improve the Company's sales output.
9. Animate designs to show materials flowing over the system, access areas, and maintenance tasks.
10. Link 3D designs to laser site scans.
11. Produce First Person walkthroughs for customers.
12. Create a configurator of 3D blocks on our website for Sales layout building.
13. Link 3D layout software to project programmes in MS Project.
14. Maintain a database of customer sites and equipment in use.
15. Produce attractive flow diagrams to illustrate the 3D design processes.
16. Create mass balances of materials flowing over the 3D layout.
17. Provide monthly reports detailing statistical information relating to sales.
18. Attend site as needed for specific projects.
19. Assist the Sales team during tender submissions.
20. Benchmark competitor marketing activity to maximize the effectiveness of Sales design output.
General Engineering Duties
1. Carry out engineering work for the Projects department in the form of Project Engineering tasks and/or detailed design.
2. Understand the design-to-manufacture process to suggest improvements.
3. Help write and develop company Design Rules.
4. Create a Library of Machines with pertinent information about every product.
5. Work on the development of standard or non-standard machines and applications.
6. Contribute to the Company's Product Standardisation programme.
7. Produce drawings for new products and offer input on R&D projects.
