Maintenance Officer Mechanical/Plumbing
Base Location: Forth Valley Royal Hospital
Full time – 37 hours per week, Mon-Fri 0800-1600 hours

Salary
- £39,912.00
- £48,635.00 depending on experience plus Serco Benefits plus
- on call allowance of approx. £1900. Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Maintenance Officer to join us at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, site has 860 beds and covers a single site of approximately 95,000 square metres.
As part of our Estates Department, you will work closely with the Maintenance/Technical Manager holding responsibility for management and supervision of multi skilled workforce carrying out reactive and planned maintenance, Also involved in minor improvement and capital works across the services of estates ensuring compliance with safety standards, procedures, and Health & Safety at work.
This role is aimed at someone who has plumbing/mechanical bias experience in a leadership role, technical knowledge and is keen to contribute to the development of the Estates strategy and management of new works, improvement, and refurbishment projects.
Ability to line manage, co-ordinate and assist the Mechanical / Plumbing trade staff in performing their day-to-day duties on a wide range of engineering plant, equipment and services. Ensure satisfactory standards of discipline, conduct, welfare, and timekeeping are maintained and implement Trust policies in respect to managed personnel.
Issue and control programmes of maintenance, repairs, minor improvements and capital work across the site as directed. Ensuring acceptable standards of productivity and quality are achieved whilst also complying with statutory requirements, safety standards and procedures.
What you’ll need to do the role
- Able to demonstrate a high level of knowledge and expertise across a wide range of techniques and processes relevant to hospital engineering or similar environment.
- Preferably educated to a relevant professional qualification HNC or HND in either mechanical engineering with appropriate endorsements (or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through courses and relevant practical experience).
- Capable of appointment as Authorised Person in disciplines relevant to your qualifications or experiences within 12 months of appointment. e.g., Water, Boilers and Pressure Systems, MGPS ,Ventilation, .
- Be conversant with and understand the complete working of the Plumbing and mechanical services in an N.H.S building particularly as they relate to this unit i.e. Hot and Cold water systems, sterilisation, boiler plant, air conditioning, ventilation systems, control theory, practical and application.
