At VWV, our large and experienced team of employment solicitors provide specialist legal advice and support to employers of all sizes and in all sectors. We have an opportunity for a Secretary to join the employment team in Bristol to support lawyers and help serve the needs of our clients.
Is This Your Next Career Move?
In this role you'll be invaluable by taking ownership of the legal administration tasks to allow our lawyers to focus on business generation. You'll be responsible for accurately transcribing audio dictation and copy typing from draft documents. You'll implement the firm's quality standards, maintain familiarity with Letters of Engagement, and use precedents efficiently. Maintaining a comprehensive filing and record system, keeping files orderly, and closing files according to archiving procedures are essential duties.
Supporting fee earners you'll assist with billing processes, adhering to the firm's quality and compliance policies. A willingness to support other secretaries and provide secretarial support to all lawyers is important. Managing lawyers' diaries, arranging travel and accommodation, handling outgoing mail, dealing with incoming calls, monitoring e-mail inboxes, and arranging meeting rooms for client visits are part of your responsibilities.
You'll get involved with ad-hoc project work when required and have the opportunity to brush up on those all-important client facing skills as you play a key part in gathering relevant information from clients to assist the lawyers with their enquiries.

So Who Are We Hoping Will Apply?
Previous secretarial or administration experience will see you hit the ground running, as will your confidence to support the team from partner level to paralegal. It's a busy role so you'll be organised, an excellent all-round communicator with proficient IT skills using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Attention to detail is absolutely crucial, and you'll certainly need to be comfortable working with spreadsheets and numbers. You enjoy taking initiative, learning to new things and getting your teeth stuck in to various tasks.
Your ability to develop strong relationships within the team is great. You'll be able to communicate concisely, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external clients. Typing quickly and accurately is essential for this role. You're also capable of planning and organising your own work efficiently. Demonstrating flexibility and commitment, and assisting other teams as and when necessary, is important to thrive in our dynamic environment.
You're someone who's motivated by the team's successes ahead of their own and your calm, professional phone manner will be a fantastic first impression for our clients.
