The Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust (JRCT) is seeking several new Trustees to join our board and help guide the future of our work. JRCT is an independent funder committed to social justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability. Inspired by our founder Joseph Rowntree’s conviction that true progress requires solving root causes, not merely treating symptoms, for 120 years we’ve supported people and organisations tackling the root causes of conflict and injustice. Our mission seems ever more relevant in an increasingly complex and unequal world. In 2024, we awarded £13.8 million in grants and we currently fund 340 people and organisations, from well-known charities to grassroots groups. As a Trustee, you’ll provide oversight, support, and challenge to ensure JRCT remains a bold and effective funder. We want to hear from people who bring diverse experiences and perspectives, particularly those with expertise in governance, finance, investments, change management and grant-making. We are seeking both Quakers and non-Quaker trustees, of all faiths and none. Above all, we seek individuals who share our commitment to inclusion, transformative change, and the Quaker values of equality and the worth of every individual, nonviolence, honesty and integrity. This voluntary role covers reasonable expenses and we have a generous loss of earnings policy. Trustees serve for an initial five-year term. If you believe in the power of philanthropy to drive meaningful drive change, we’d love to hear from you.
