Registered Veterinary Nurse - Small Animal
We are looking to fill a rare vacancy in our team of 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses. Our ideal candidate would work 5 days per week (37.5 hrs).
Our nursing team is highly experienced, with our most recently qualified nurse doing so 11 years ago. Our nursing teams are involved in all aspects of patient care including consulting, monitoring anaesthetics, in-patient care, minor procedures (where appropriate), laboratory work, and assisting other teams.
The Role With Us
The practice currently provides its own out-of-hours service, with no requirement for the nursing team to be on site. Duty vets will only phone the on-call nurse when assistance is required, such as for a general anaesthetic. This is currently a rarity. The on-call, weekend, and bank holiday rota is shared evenly between the team (currently 1:7, but potentially 1:8). Time off in lieu is provided when weekends or bank holidays are worked. When called to assist the vet, an hourly rate is paid depending on the time of evening/night, currently ranging from £35-47/hr. Your shift pattern will be either 0830-1700 or 1100-1930, with late shifts shared equally between the team. Applicants will work between our 2 branches (IP8 3EY & IP1 6AA).
About The Barn
The Barn is a thriving 7.5 FTE vet practice with 2 sites, dealing with an array of small animal patients. Our main site is a beautiful converted Suffolk barn with vaulted/beamed ceilings and a cosy fire in the waiting room. We are well equipped with a full in-house laboratory at both surgeries, multi-parameter monitoring equipment, among other more specialist equipment. The practice has strong affiliations with local and national charities and provides 3 charity clinics per week as well as undertaking subsidised work for patients in need of assistance. We are a nurse training practice and often have degree students for extended placements. The vet, nurse, and reception teams have a strong working relationship, with most having worked together for many years.
