An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated dietitian looking to work within the acute adult team at Fairfield Hospital.
This permanent post provides an opportunity to work within specialist areas including stroke, parenteral nutrition and critical care. We have lots of opportunities to expand your knowledge and skills. You will also be able to develop and take part in staff teaching and training, and maintain your continuous professional development.
You will support and supervise student placements and Dietetic Assistants, as well as playing a key role in raising the profile of dietetics across the Care Organization and within the MDT.
You will be actively involved in the development, implementation and audit of patient care practices as part of Clinical Governance.
Main duties of the job
Main Responsibilities:
* To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and to organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
* To attend ward rounds and multidisciplinary meetings as appropriate to ensure a co-ordinated approach to patient care.
* Decide priorities for own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands, and ensure that these remain in accordance with specialty.
* To ensure the safe and timely discharge of patients on nutrition support and liaise with appropriate internal and external agencies.
* Attend staff meetings and participate in discussions concerning the running of the nutrition and dietetic service.
* Participate in the achievement of dietetic department objectives

Essential
* BSc/MSc Nutrition and dietetics or post graduate diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics
* HCPC Registration
Desirable
* Member of the BDA
* Accrediated BDA course in a specialist area
* member of a specialist group
Knowledge/skills/experience
Essential
* Good knowledge of Nutrition and Dietetics and an understanding of the dietary management of common conditions requiring diet therapy
* Awareness of the HCPC standards of conduct, performance and ethnic and standards of proficiency
* Ability to work flexibly within a stressful and unpredictable environment
* Well developed communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds
* Ability to convey complex information in an understandable way
* Ability to demonstrate organisational skills including time management, prioriting and the ability to complete a task
* Clinical experience of nutrition support including enteral feeding
