ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
INEOS Olefins and Polymers UK are now looking to recruit a Process Safety Engineer. The Process Safety Engineer will define and deliver process safety support and studies in line with INEOS business demands and recommend proposals to improve process safety performance and meet regulatory/compliance requirements.
Principle Accountabilities
1. Provides process safety related technical design competence and guidance to the local area – Hydrocarbons and Utilities.
2. Develops and implements management strategies for non-compliance with legislative practices by identifying gaps and agreeing (with the Asset management) work programmes to address and mitigate such gaps.
3. Leads/supports the planning and implementation of the Process Hazards Analysis programmes including chairing PHAs or Safety Engineering Reviews and/or identifying appropriate resource to chair.
4. Leads or supports LOPAs (Level of Protection Analysis) reviews (in response to Asset or Project demand).
5. Regularly reviews the status of process safety information and identifies gaps and develops improvement plans.
6. Provides approval for Plant Modifications with process safety impact to ensure robustness of management of change process.
7. Coaches/mentors less experienced engineers and others to ensure process safety issues and Chemical/Process Engineering considerations are addressed as part of design and operational processes.
8. Manages the review and update of the local area COMAH reports to meet legislative requirements. Provides input to the complex COMAH establishment report as required.
9. Ensure, along with the other members of the Process safety network, that a full range of process safety related skills are available to the complex and that gaps are identified as required.
10. Provide key share of chemical engineering/operational conscience for the Asset area, balancing production demands in light of ongoing and future process safety, integrity and environmental operating standards.
ABOUT YOU
You should:
11. Be a chartered chemical engineer with significant experience in petrochemical or refinery operations.
12. Have strong technical skills – specifically in process safety area.
13. Have strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret complicated systems and regulations.
14. Have risk assessment skills – knowledge of specific tools required and ability to interpret results.
15. Demonstrate awareness of human factors influence on process safety.
16. Be TUV Certified or experience with Safety Instrumented Systems Lifecycle.
17. Have experience with the interpretation of results from QRAs.
18. Be a Certified Hazard Study Leader (or able to attain).
You may also:
19. Have excellent technical leadership skills as well as interpersonal skills.
20. Be capable of influencing at all levels in the organisation.
21. Be capable of explaining decisions and rationale to all levels as required.
The postholder would be expected to have the skills and experience necessary to be part of the Grangemouth complex Process Safety Network and to contribute to this network on behalf of the Hydrocarbons and Utilities assets.
