The Role Wessex Internet have a new opportunity to join our finance team as a payroller. You will support our financial controller & Assistant Management accountant in ensuring all payroll process across the business are run effectively and accurately. The role will include ensure all staff members are paid correctly; all overtime payments are made & also any subcontractor/ freelances are also paid promptly. This is a part time (4 days a week) office based role based in Blandford, Dorset. The role id ideal for a reliable, experienced & detailed oriented individual. Responsibilities 1. Payroll Payroll is the single largest cost in the company, over £15m per annum. We have over 300 employees, staff turnover of >25% annually, overtime, salary sacrifice. Payroll never stands still and accuracy is vital. You will: Maintain a monthly excel sheet to capture all the extras and deductions relevant for gross pay. This sheet will be reviewed and approved by the Assistant Management Accountant / Financial Controller and you will work closely on this. Run the payroll in SAGE payroll, check the gross pay and deductions. This stage will also be reviewed by the Financial Controller. Post review, you will ensure the payslips are issued. Submit the RTI filings. Prepare the monthly deductions due to HMRC. Prepare and submit payments to the group pension (Royal London) Reconcile the group benefits supplier (Vitality) Managing and reconciling the staff tech scheme Resolve queries regarding payroll (overtime, unpaid leave, sick pay etc) Upload the monthly timesheet data into project costing Assist with ad-hoc payroll analysis (payrises, grading etc) Understand that certain payroll costs are capitalised and certain payroll costs are expensed. You will understand the different departments and treatment and work with the Financial Controller who is responsible for accurate capitalisation of costs. 2. System work Currently bookkeeping is on Xero, this is being migrated to Sage. This project is led by the Financial Controller. You will assist with this work and upskill to be proficient in all the SAGE modules. 3. Other finance admin You would also assist the wider finance operation in areas such as hire purchase or bookkeeping. Requirement To succeed in the role you will have a balanced set of skills covering (1) technical knowledge, (2) working with others and (3) personal drive and resilience. This will include being / having: You will hold an appropriate payroll or accountancy qualification (CIPP / IPPE / CIPD / AAT) Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proactive and forward thinking with the ability to plan ahead and utilise initiative Familiarity with modern accounting systems, import and export functions Excel and word intermediate or above (sumif / vlookup / pivot tables / mail merge) The role is part time, equivalent of 4 days (32 hours) per week.
