If you are happy to take the lead, enjoy working in an organised manner and would love to focus on how a practice flows, then we have a unique and exciting opportunity that may just be what you’re looking for!
Here at Colne Vets for Pets we are looking for an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse who has desires to move into a more strategic role, whilst still having some overflow nursing duties. This position is primarily leading and managing the workflow and diaries to ensure the smooth running of the clinical side of the practice, and that we are collectively achieving all that is possible as a dynamic enthusiastic and united team.
Tasks that will fall within your week will include:
1. Having an overview of the clinical team at all times with a strategy for task completion. 5 Vets, 4 RVNs including a deputy HRVN, and 5 VCAs. A clinical presence to supervise, monitor and direct to ensure effective and efficient workflow, including diary alterations and break cover, ensuring standards are upheld.
2. Provide line management support to the Nurses and VCAs. This includes the delivery of timely individual colleague appraisals, 1 to 1’s and any performance management requirements. Ensure all appropriate inductions and probationary reviews are completed on time.
3. Encourage ongoing development and suggest improvements for both individuals and the practice to deliver timely and effective patient and customer care for all.
4. Hold monthly meetings within teams, and with the senior leadership team, minute and advise the SLT on the nursing impact of decisions and discussions to support timely clinical and managerial decision making.
5. Identify and deliver business opportunities to grow revenue to the agreed budget.
Although primarily a non-clinical role, there is time where you will need to be involved in practical nursing, whether this is to cover holiday/sickness, lunches, emergencies, or to improve workflow, so experience and willingness to adapt will be required.
Overall, you will have a good experience of veterinary nursing, excellent customer service and communication skills, be an effective team player, have a systematic approach when making decisions and be able to carry out the role effectively with planning and organisation. The ideal candidate will enjoy the variety provided by the clients and colleagues alike.
This role is 34 hours per week, condensed into a 4 day week with only 1 in 6 Saturdays, giving you a fantastic work/life balance.
Located in store, it’s an exciting time to join us, with a recent expansion to 4/5 consult rooms, a dental and imaging suite, a separate induction area, prep room and lab room, a large colleague space, and a quiet waiting area. This is to support our colleagues, patients, and work towards becoming a Fear Free practice.
We are on the edge of town, with the M65 and train station only ¼ of a mile from the practice.
So, if you’re ready for your next move and this role sounds like a great fit for your career aspirations, then we’d love to hear from you!
In addition to a great salary (FTE, DOE) we offer all the benefits you’d expect from a major employer (pension, healthcare, paid memberships etc.) plus a few more, such as excellent career progression and exclusive lifestyle and shopping discounts (up to 20% off at Pets at Home).
