HHELC is a school based in Nottingham City which caters for pupils and young people with a range of medical or mental health needs. The school is located on four sites.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and professional Level 4 Teaching Assistant to lead a new outreach need from our Primary and Secondary Pathways sites. This is an exciting and fulfilling opportunity for an appropriately experienced and qualified person to join our team. The role is a minimum one year fixed term position.
This post is not your ‘run of the mill’ Level 4 HLTA role; it offers great professional development opportunities and fulfilment in a specialist field of education for ‘the right person’. It will involve working with our alternative provision partners across the city supporting pupils in Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. The role will require the successful candidate to possess their own transport and a full and clean UK driving licence.
Our Primary and Secondary Pathways are short-term provisions in the city. We teach pupils who have experienced a wide range of anxiety-related traumas and are unable to successfully attend mainstream settings. We aim to provide a ‘reset’ or ‘circuit break’, supporting pupils to re-engage positively with school routines and learning, before aiming to reintegrate back to their own school or a more appropriate school setting.
We are looking for the right person who:
• Is excellent at building positive and professional relationships with the school community and AP partners – staff, pupils, parents and carers, other professionals
• Can support pupils who demonstrate a wide range of needs, enabling them to participate with and develop their learning, including managing SEND /EHCP reviews under the direction of the school SENCo
• Is a flexible, enthusiastic professional, able to adapt quickly, to ’think on their feet’ and who will act with integrity
• Is able to monitor and review offsite provision, ensuring that safeguarding and wellbeing processes are stringent for all pupils.
• Is ambitious in ensuring the best pupil outcomes, including going the extra mile in supporting assessments and exam invigilation
• Is passionate and excited about the opportunity to work in our school and is committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for all of our pupils
• Brings additional experiences, expertise and interests
We can offer:
• A whole school staff team with the highest level of expertise in their field, committed to achieving the best for their pupils
• A friendly, skilled team, who are always ready to offer support and advice to one another
• A varied, exciting and ever evolving job where no two days are the same
• An opportunity to be involved in the ongoing professional development of a specialist field of education
The role will be based across our Primary Pathways Education Centre in Sherwood and Secondary Pathways Education Centre in the city centre, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week).
Applicants are strongly encouraged to arrange a visit to our Castle Road site to learn more about the role and HHELC’s place in the city’s education offer.
To arrange a visit on Tuesday 28th or Thursday 30th January 2025, or for further information, please contact our Castle Road office on 0115 9153862 Option 1.
To apply please complete an application form by following the link on our website clearly showing how you meet the requirements in the Person Specification and return this, together with a completed Equality and Diversity Monitoring form and covering letter to: hr@hhe.nottingham.sch.uk
The school takes the safeguarding of its pupils and staff very seriously and this post will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and receipt of satisfactory references.
