We are looking for a Full-Time Scientist in the Response, Enforcement, Development & Innovation (REDI) Unit which is part of SEPA’s Chemistry Function, on a Fixed Term basis until 24/05/2026.

Work that goes beyond your desk
We work in a professional way towards our shared goals, knowing the work we do makes a genuine, lasting difference on the environment. As a Scientist within the REDI Unit, your role will include:
1. Coordination of our AHER Rota and managing the SharePoint site for the service
2. Creating, updating and managing all documents, procedures and forms used by the AHER service
3. Developing and running the AHER training programme
4. Working with the Senior Specialist Scientist to develop a suite of Risk Packs
5. Maintenance and calibration of the AHER equipment used within the service

This is a highly important role within our Chemistry department within the DEI portfolio. The post has been created to support and improve SEPA’s Airborne Hazards Emergency Response (AHER) service. To be successful in this role you’ll need:
1. Motivation to drive forward change and deliver improvements
2. Experience and/or knowledge of air quality monitoring techniques
3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to tailor your communication based on the audience and purpose of that communication
4. Good organisational and time management skills
