Job Summary
Malvern Optical Limited is seeking a highly skilled IT engineer to join our team. As an IT engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT systems, supporting end-users, and contributing to the overall IT infrastructure of the organization.
This is a hands-on role that requires technical expertise, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
* Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software systems, including servers, workstations, networks, and peripherals.
* Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues promptly and efficiently.
* Manage user accounts, permissions, and security settings in collaboration with the IT team.
* Maintain and update system documentation, including hardware and software inventories, network diagrams, and user manuals.
* Monitor and optimize system performance, ensuring high availability and reliability.
* Implement and maintain data backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical information.
* Conduct regular system and security audits, identifying vulnerabilities and implementing necessary measures to mitigate risks.
* Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, providing recommendations for improvements and enhancements to the IT infrastructure.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and implement IT projects and initiatives.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
* Proven experience in IT support, system administration, or a similar role.
* Strong knowledge of networking principles, server administration, and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
* Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
* Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide exceptional customer service.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional) would be advantageous.
* Understanding of UK Defence Cyber Security Domain, specifically experience with the Cyber Essentials(+) Scheme and the DCPP Cyber Security Model.

Salary: £30,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
