Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Senior Authorised Person (HV SAP) Engineer to oversee the operation, maintenance, and commissioning of HV electrical systems. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe and efficient work on HV networks, conducting switching operations, issuing permits, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. Key Responsibilities: Act as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP), managing switching operations up to 33 thousand volts. Carry out HV isolations, switching, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment. Issue Permits to Work (PTW) and ensure safe working procedures for engineers and contractors. Conduct fault finding, troubleshooting, and repairs on HV electrical systems. Ensure compliance with BS 7671, Electrical Safety Rules, and Health & Safety regulations. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on HV networks. Work on substations, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems. Provide technical support and supervision to junior engineers and technicians. Liaise with DNOs, IDNOs, and other stakeholders regarding network operations. Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports on electrical systems. Required Qualifications & Experience: Senior Authorised Person (SAP) certification HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification. Experience working on HV distribution systems, substations, and switchgear. Strong knowledge of HV operational procedures, safety rules, and risk assessments. Proven ability to perform HV switching, fault diagnosis, and system maintenance. Familiarity with DNO/IDNO networks and electrical regulations. Experience in commissioning HV/LV electrical systems. Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills. Desirable Skills: Experience with renewable energy, battery storage, or power distribution projects. Knowledge of SCADA, protection relays, and automation systems. Authorised Person (AP) certification for LV systems. Experience working in utilities, industrial, or commercial HV environments.
