Lockheed Martin (UK) Ampthill is a rapidly changing, dynamic part of the Lockheed Martin Corporation with both domestic and international customers. What are we looking for? We're looking for a Business Development Manager - Defence Land Platforms to join our team based from Ampthill, Bedfordshire. This role will be blended with time in the office at Ampthill, client site meetings across the UK and some home working (occasional travel to the US).
This post benefits from our 4xFlex working pattern offering a 4 day working week (Mon - Thu). This highly influential role is critical in delivering the Ampthill growth strategy in the UK with emphasis on platform systems and integration, predominantly (but not limited to) the Land domain and associated sustainment and through life support requirements.
What do we need?
1. A background in Land Platforms/Armoured Vehicles/Land Systems/Weapons is essential.
2. A self-starter with strong domain knowledge and extant network, with evidenced business development capability and tangible success.
3. Able to understand the technology, capability and future equipment support requirements including innovative through-life support models, spiral development, capability upgrades within the UK MoD Land domain and their impact on the UK Customer.
4. Ability to understand the political, technical, commercial, and financial aspects of a sensitive market engaging effectively with the stakeholder community including (and not limited to) the British Army, DE&S, wider MoD and wider Industry.
5. Experience in campaign planning and execution, position-to-win strategies and strategic stakeholder engagement.
6. A tenacious yet considered individual able to operate and deliver in a complex enterprise to balance customer and corporate demands and expectations.
Skills required:
1. Proven Business Development experience (£25+ million programmes) selling into Defence, (Land Platforms and Equipment).
2. Strong senior level professional network within target markets across industry peers, and customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, technical activities, schedules and contractual issues.
3. Demonstrable experience and understanding of spiral development, post design services and through life support (LIOS).
4. Ability to develop new business plans and operationalise the market strategy.
5. Ability to effectively work within a multi-functional team.
6. Clear and impactful communication skills with effective inter-personal skills.
7. Experience in the US DoD FMS and DCS processes with a firm grasp of UK/US acquisition frameworks and commercial options.
8. Understanding and experience with export rules and regulations and ITAR applicability.
