Nuclera is a venture-backed, founder-driven biotech company headquartered in Cambridge, UK with significant operations in Boston, USA. We are beginning this mission by making proteins accessible through our eProtein desktop bioprinting platform.
eProtein promises to be a breakthrough protein printing technology that brings rapid prototyping to the life science benchtop and accelerates the drug discovery process.
We are seeking a full-time, fully qualified management accountant with 2+ PQE. This role will involve working independently under the guidance of the Global Financial Controller and be responsible for end-to-end management reporting.
This role will suit an individual who has experience and drive working in a fast-paced small company environment with a track record of execution and teamwork.
About the role:
1. Reconciliation, review and investigation of all balance sheet accounts
2. Responsible for the production of:
1. Project reporting – internal R&D projects
2. Grant reporting and quarterly claim submissions
3. VP/departmental cost reporting
4. Commercial metric, revenue and order reporting
5. Cash flow forecasting and reporting
3. Consolidation and monthly management accounts, commentary and variance analysis; utilising IFS business reporter where useful
4. Assisting with the following, as required:
1. the annual budget compilation
2. payroll review
3. year end audit and statutory accounts and reporting
4. UK corporation tax and R&D tax credit estimates
5. PSA and P11D calculation
6. HMRC share option reporting
5. Intercompany recharges and intercompany account reconciliation
6. Preparation of Quarterly VAT return
7. Manage PVA including reconciliation to HMRC statements
8. Assisting finance colleagues with AP and AR work as required (particularly holiday and sickness cover)
9. Creation of, or updating of, any system and process notes
10. Making process and system recommendations to the Global Financial Controller
11. Assisting in the implementation of new finance systems and processes
12. Other ad hoc duties to support the Global Financial Controller
Note: the role may require occasional travel (c. once per year) to our US office in Billerica, Massachusetts where the Global Finance Manager is based.
Essential:
1. Fully ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
2. 2 years of post-qualification experience (ideally in industry)
3. Knowledgeable in technical accounting including group consolidations
4. Experienced in preparing management accounts and other related internal reporting accurately and in a timely fashion, used to working to set deadlines
5. Detail oriented and organised
6. Strong written and oral communication skills
7. Problem solving skills
8. Time management skills
Desirable:
1. Worked in the BioTech or Life Sciences industry
2. Experience of working in a group of companies
3. Experience of ERP systems
