Audit Manager/Senior Manager - Milton Keynes
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with drive and enthusiasm to develop their career and become a key player in our growing Audit team. We are seeking someone with energy, strong influencing skills and vision, who takes pride in their work. With a background in larger corporates (typically £30m to £100m turnover) and groups, you will have your own caseload and work directly with partners, as well as developing our Audit team.
Main function of job
(Note: in addition to these functions employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required).
This individual will be responsible for managing a caseload primarily in Milton Keynes for general practice partners across the firm. Control and supervision of the team. Marketing and promotion of the firm.
* Audit of a large range of corporate clients including groups and overseas subsidiaries
* Reporting directly to partners and liaising with other managers as required
* Planning, supervision and review of audit and accounts cases including preparing notes for partners
* Main point of contact with clients and liaising with clients both face to face and on the phone/video-link/email on day to day issues
* Assisting staff with technical accounting and auditing problems
* Identifying and capitalising on opportunities and prospects for new work
* Delivering confident and clear presentations of service features and benefits to clients
* Assessing and producing high quality work in line with the Firm's policy and processes, meeting relevant regulatory requirements
* Taking ownership of projects, effectively delegating to others within the team and taking responsibility for quality control. Actively seeking to enhance expertise and knowledge
* Developing the audit function in Milton Keynes and synchronising with the other offices
* Supervision and development of staff and providing leadership to the department
* Marketing activities and promoting Mercer & Hole in the MK market
* Assisting in preparation and delivery of pitches for new clients
* Billing and monitoring actual costs against budgets and reporting to partners on variances
* Drafting bills on a monthly basis for review by partners
* Liaising with the Corporate Business Tax department in relation to the preparation and review of corporation tax computations
Qualifications/education required
* ACA or ACCA
Experience required
* 3 years’ experience as a manager and trained within a Chartered Practice and used to dealing with organisations with turnovers of £30-£100 million.
* Relevant privately owned business sector audit experience
* Up to date technical knowledge of UK GAAP / FRS102 and IFRS
* Strong knowledge of accounting and auditing
* A working knowledge of accounting software
* Able to deal confidently and effectively with clients, staff and partners
* Able to provide on the job training for staff as appropriate
* Able to multi-task
* Self-starter who looks for solutions and makes recommendations
* Strong written and oral communication skills are essential
* Proven managerial skills and experience
* Confident in marketing, networking and pitching to potential clients
* A passion to become part of a growing team and help to promote the technical expertise of the team and increase its profile both internally and externally
* Maintaining control and stability under pressure whilst recognising the deadline or urgency
