A primary school in Walthamstow is seeking a compassionate and reliable Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support a young student with special educational needs (SEN) in a wheelchair. This full-time, rewarding role is ideal for someone with a care background, dedicated to making a positive impact on a child's daily school life, including assisting with personal care tasks such as feeding and waste bag changes. Key Responsibilities: As an LSA, you will play a crucial role in supporting the student's well-being and educational experience. Your responsibilities will include: Personal Care Support: Assist the student with feeding and waste bag changes throughout the school day, with sensitivity, discretion, and a focus on the child's comfort and dignity. One-on-One Academic Support: Work closely with the student, adapting learning tasks as needed to support their academic growth, while working collaboratively with the teaching team. Promoting Inclusion: Encourage the student's participation in classroom activities, ensuring they feel included and engaged with their peers. Collaboration with Staff: Work alongside teachers and other support staff to create an integrated, inclusive environment that supports both the student's learning and social development. Qualifications and Skills: Care Experience: Previous experience in a care role, particularly involving personal care tasks, is essential. Experience in environments such as hospitals, care homes, or settings where medication administration is part of the role is beneficial. Prior experience working with children in a school setting is desirable but not required.
