Then we have an opportunity for you. Our busy Housing Enforcement Team are looking to recruit a Senior Enforcement Officer working towards being an Environmental Health Practitioner, or, an Environmental Health Practitioner / Senior Environmental Health Practitioner (depending on experience and qualifications) to carry out our legal duties in relation to the private rented sector, including houses in multiple occupation and selective licensing.
Duties include:
1. Private sector housing enforcement
2. Licensing of Houses in Multiple Occupation
3. Investigations into illegal eviction and harassment
4. Filthy & verminous properties and hoarding
5. Nuisance housing
6. Planning consultations and enforcement
7. Environmental crime
8. Anti-social behaviour
The role will provide many opportunities to gain experience in a wide range of housing and environmental issues and make a positive contribution to the borough. Please refer to the attached Job Role Summary for details of the duties and responsibilities.
What can you bring to the role? A self-motivated can-do attitude, attention to detail and accuracy, patience and good communication skills in order to liaise with residents and customers of varying ethnicities and backgrounds, and a drive to work as part of an active team.
We are looking for someone who is either well on the road to competency or already qualified, high performing, self-motivated and can work well as part of a busy team. Securing compliance and, where necessary, enforcement is integral to the role and we are looking to recruit someone who can demonstrate recent experience of delivering relevant successful enforcement outcomes.
The Housing Enforcement function is varied, and no two days are the same. Jobs vary from those that take time to those emergencies where it is all hands to the deck. We strive to improve the standards within the private rented sector. We are a supportive team which sits within the larger Enforcement Team, dealing with all environmental crime, nuisance, pollution control, planning enforcement and parking enforcement.
