The Opportunity:
We are looking for a motivated Lead Hardware Engineer to join a highly regarded organisation in the technology sector. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to step into or further develop their leadership career in engineering. You’ll play a key role in guiding and shaping the efforts of a dedicated Hardware Engineering team, working on advanced technology solutions across multiple industries.
Your Role:
In this role, you’ll oversee, review, and approve the work of the Hardware Engineering team, collaborating closely with other engineering leaders and the Product Engineering Manager to drive the strategic direction of product engineering. Your work will focus on product development and involve partnering with operations teams to ensure efficient production support for the hardware solutions in progress.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the Hardware Engineering team, providing guidance and direction.
* Review and approve output from the Hardware Engineering team, ensuring quality and consistency.
* Collaborate with the Programme Manager, Product Owners, and Product Engineering Manager to prioritise work packages.
* Develop the skills and talent pipeline within the Hardware Engineering team.
* Serve as a primary technical voice in hardware platform development.
* Drive excellence in hardware design and development processes.
* Interface with the Operations Engineering Manager to ensure optimal support for production.
* Promote Electrical Health and Safety standards within the organisation.
What We're Looking For:
* A highly motivated individual with experience in electrical/electronics design.
* Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (BEng minimum).
* Strong expertise in PCB design and manufacture.
* Hands-on experience with Altium and the SolidWorks PDM vault.
* Familiarity with key communication technologies (Ethernet, USB, Serial, etc.).
* Proficiency in CAD and excellent communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Experience with SolidWorks Mechanical and Electrical.
* MEng in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
* Background in high availability and reliability electronics design.
* Previous team leadership experience.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards it.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £50,000.00-£65,000.00 per year
