Department As the Communication Assistant for the Centre for Assuring Autonomy (CfAA) department at the University of York you will be working in the exciting and topical area of safety and assurance of AI, autonomous systems and robotics. You will help shape and deliver the communications activity and stakeholder engagement which will advance the work of the CfAA. In this role you’ll work with the Communication and Impact Manager and wider Centre team to help deliver a series of events, campaigns and communications projects. This position is offered until the end of July 2024 in the first instance. This is a critical time in the UK’s path to the development and deployment of AI and autonomous systems in society, and the safety of such systems is central to this success. The Centre is a partnership between Lloyd’s Register Foundation and the University of York focused on research and innovation around autonomous systems, machine learning and robotics. You will be working with leading academics and researchers in this field, as well as industry and commercial organisations to craft and communicate key messages and findings around the subject of safety. We are looking for a friendly and motivated person to join the team. Role In this role you will: Support the research and industry work of Centre for Assuring Autonomy in its priority sectors Contribute to the implementation of the communication strategy Develop content for our offline and digital communication channels Work on both internal and external communications. Work with stakeholders and colleagues of different seniority and engage in a wide range of communication activities with the opportunity to contribute directly to the success of the new Centre for Assuring Autonomy. Skills, Experience & Qualification needed Experience of creating and sharing digital content across multiple channels. Experience of creating and managing monthly newsletters. Experience or knowledge of CMS systems to manage and update website content. Understanding or experience of working with different stakeholder groups. Event planning and support, for both internal and external events.
