Because that’s who we’re doing it for – the communities and businesses that make our town great. As part of the Council, you’ll support a friendly local authority making decisions with real impact. It’s all for better public services. Better processes. And a better quality of life, for everyone. Join us, and Swindon will be better with you.
This is an opportunity to join the Integrated Adolescent Service at Swindon Borough Council; you will be part of the Opal Team who support children and their families who are at risk of harm outside the home. This post is a collaboration between Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Police, contributing to the partnership working in Swindon to safeguard and promote the welfare of children.
Your next role
An opportunity has arisen to join the Integrated Adolescence Service as our Missing Children’s Coordinator. Do you want to be a central part of safeguarding children through overseeing and improving our services to children who are reported missing? This role is unique as you will also have contact with children and young people. Key areas of the post are:
1. Be skilled at presenting data and analysis of this to a range of audiences in a clear and accessible way.
2. Have excellent IT skills and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
3. To liaise with Lead Professionals including the police and outside agencies involved with children who have been reported missing.
4. To provide consultation as required with the social work teams on the missing protocol and ensure that Return Home Interviews are coordinated and recorded.
5. To complete Return Home interviews where appropriate.
6. Providing performance data reports and analysing and presenting reports.
7. As required, to Chair Multi-Agency Missing Meetings.
8. To provide training around missing processes and best practices both to colleagues within SBC and external partners.
9. Work alongside the Child Exploitation Analyst collating and analysing data on missing children from various sources, reporting on performance with RHI’s, needs, trends, and patterns to inform strategic planning and operational delivery improvements.
10. To liaise with other Local Authorities and service providers to ensure the completion of the Missing Return Interviews for Swindon Children placed out of the area and other local authority children placed within Swindon.
You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act “for the effective performance of a customer-facing role”).
As an employee, you will receive a diverse and exciting environment in which to work, encouraging creativity and innovation whilst recognising the need to support ongoing personal development and a flexible work-life balance.
For Swindon to thrive in the future, we need to lay the foundations now. It’s why our regeneration and transformation programmes are already underway. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time on our journey. We’ll look to you to share your knowledge, influence decisions, and drive real, positive change. With your contributions, we’ll achieve our vision of a prosperous, revitalised Swindon together. And you’ll be proud to say it was made better with you.
