The Humanities and Arts Department at Worcester Polytechnic Institute is regularly seeking part-time adjunct faculty to teach sections of the Philosophy of Science.PY-REfaculty teach introductory courses,intermediate thematic surveys, andadvancedtopic seminars.WPI’sPY-RE program hasparticular strengthsin socialjusticeand environmental philosophy;underrepresented philosophical and religioustraditionsincluding feminism, critical race theory, and non-Westernworldviews;and studies ofscience,technology, and ethics.
Wehave an immediateneedfor adjunct faculty who could teach a course inthe Philosophy of Science in Fall 2024 from October 14 to December 20, 2024. We are especially interested in candidates with critical, feminist, Continental, and/or post-positivist understandings of science. All adjunct applicants should also have thecapacity to teachour core introductory course,Introduction to Philosophy and Religion.
We are looking for outstanding scholars, but successful candidates mustalsodemonstrate teaching excellence and versatility as well as an abilityto jumpintoanexisting curriculum with creative and critical pedagogical approaches. A successful candidate should hold a PhD in Philosophy or be a doctoral student who is ABD.
