The Inzpire Ltd Mission Systems Team designs, develops and delivers some of the world’s most advanced aviation mission planning, mission management and Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) systems from within our office in Lincoln. As a result of our continued success and business expansion we are delighted to offer an opportunity for a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to join our award-winning team to support the on-going development of our bespoke mission systems.
Inzpire’s GECO mission system is designed to meet the situational awareness requirements of the diverse aviation mission planning and execution environment. The system combines award-winning software with modern, high-performance hardware to deliver the right information, at the right time, in the right format to military aircrew. This helps aircrew to make the correct decision quickly, ultimately enhancing the safety of operations. GECO is designed by ex-military aircrew who work closely with skilled engineers, all of whom have experience of developing avionics products for military use.
Working directly for the Safety and Security Technical Authority, the main duties of the role will include:
· Conducting safety analysis on Company-designed mission support systems, including Mission Planning Systems and tablet-based obstacle warning, navigation and EFB products.
· Producing GECO System Hazard Analysis Reports.
· Producing GECO System Safety Assessment Reports.
· Maintaining the GECO System Hazard Log and producing GECO System Hazard Log Reports.
· Supporting the on-going maintenance, control and configuration management of all documentation and records relating to Mission Systems’ Safety Management System.
You will have experience in safety-critical systems engineering and must be motivated by the challenge of analysing complex systems to identify and control safety risk. As a member of a small highly skilled, multi-disciplined team the responsibilities of the role are necessarily broad and varied and you should be prepared to undertake a comprehensive range of activities that may, at times, fall outside of your specialist field.

Applicants should have:
· A degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Safety-Critical Systems Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Software Engineering), or;
· A minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience working in a safety-related role within a relevant sector (e.g. military air or civil air).
Skills:
Essential
· Experience of software- and safety-related standards such as: RTCA DO-178C, RTCA DO-200B (ED-76A) and Def Stan 00-056.
· Experience of demonstrating the functional safety of complex systems.
· Experience of working with common safety engineering tools and techniques, for example:
o Developing safety assurance cases using Goal-Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument-Evidence (CAE).
o Conducting Functional Failure Analysis (FFA); Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)/ Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA).
· Experience of system hazard log development and management.
· Experience of producing System Safety Assessment Reports.
Desirable
· Knowledge of Military Aviation Authority Regulatory Publications.
· Experience of demonstrating functional safety within the civil air or military air sectors.
· Experience of demonstrating functional safety within software intensive systems.
· Experience of working with aviation mission planning systems.
· Experience of working with electronic flight bag applications/standards.
· Experience of aircraft integration requirements and challenges.
· Experience of stakeholder management within the Defence Air Environment.
The post is primarily based in Lincoln but may require the successful candidate to travel occasionally to other sites within the UK, a Full UK Driver’s Licence and/or the ability to travel independently within the UK is therefore essential. This role will also allow for adaptive working.
