Solicitor - Legal Services
The role of the Interim Adult Social Care Senior Principal Solicitor is to provide professional legal advice, assistance, and representation in various local government functions. The solicitor will undertake legal casework, litigation, and advocacy, as well as facilitate policy objectives within the law.
* Undertake a mixed caseload of litigation and advice, with personal responsibility for cases.
* Advocate at all levels of Court/Tribunals, preparing and managing cases.
* Provide full-range professional legal advice and services to the Council and its committees on matters relating to local government and partnerships.
* Draft and settle legal documentation.
* Ensure that Council officers and service departments adhere to the Council's Constitution and Governance framework.
* Provide a responsive and cost-effective service to Council officers and service departments.
* Carry out work in accordance with customer care, health, safety, and equalities agendas.
* Maintain continuing professional development, adhering to the Solicitors Code of Conduct.
* Utilize information and communications technology when carrying out work.
* Present training courses and services to staff as required.
* Review, develop, and improve systems, processes, and services to support continuous improvement and best value.
* Maintain office procedures and provide statistical and management information as needed.
* Support, cover for, and supervise other staff as necessary.
Qualifications:
1. Qualified Solicitor or Barrister.
2. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
Skills & Experience:
1. Minimum 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context, ideally within a public sector.
2. Experience in Local Government/Child Care/Adult Care/Education/Prosecutions/Civil Litigation/Licensing Law.
3. Experience in advocacy before Courts/Tribunals/Inquiries.
4. Experience in litigation procedures.
5. Strong ICT skills across Microsoft products, particularly Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
Salary: £40,000-60,000 per annum (dependent on location)
