Warrington Borough Council's Supported Accommodation service is expanding with a number of innovative new projects opening in the next 6 months.
We have exciting opportunities to join an already supportive and experienced staff team as a Supported Accommodation Support Worker.
This is a challenging role where you will be supporting and mentoring young people aged 16 to 18 with a number of complex needs to improve their outcomes, achieve their goals, and successfully transition into independent living.
We are looking for individuals who have a passion for working with young people and are flexible, resilient, self-motivated, and committed.
As a Supported Accommodation Support Worker, your weekly rota will bend around the needs of the young people you are allocated to support, including working evenings, weekends, and sleep-in shifts.
You will also benefit from 20% enhancements Monday to Friday 7pm to 11pm and 30% enhancements from 7pm to 11pm on Saturday and Sunday. We offer a substantial training package and are committed to supporting development and progress. We are in easily commutable distance of Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and Merseyside. The role
To provide high-quality support and mentoring for young people to ensure a safe and stable environment that supports them in achieving their full potential. Progress Young People's plans to receive high-quality physical, emotional, social, and intellectual support, acting as a positive adult role model.
You will act as a key worker for agreed young people, undertaking and completing key worker files and risk assessments under the overall supervision of the Registered and Deputy Manager.
To support and advocate for the Young People being supported for supported accommodation.
Requirements
* NVQ level 3 in care of children & young people or a diploma in social care, or willingness to work towards this.
* Experience of working with children and young people in a social care setting.
* Understanding of young people's needs and behaviours, with evidence of effectively contributing to responding to those needs to enable them to reach their full potential.
* Demonstrates a flexibility of approach.
* Excellent communication skills with young people, families, and professionals.
* Accepts responsibility and accountability for own work, understands the limits of his/her role, and is able to complete work by set deadlines, seeking and using professional support constructively.
* Evidence of ability to contribute effectively to a team.
* Experience of working in a setting where a calm manner and reflective attitude is needed.
* Ability to travel independently between various homes across the services.
