The opportunity: As Mechanical Architects, we are involved in all aspects of missile development - from the early feasibility studies to series production and in-service support. A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Architect to lead the management of missile and subsystem requirements to achieve missile performance, overall missile layout and architecture and focus on time and on cost delivery. This involves leading design justification aspects and managing the verification evidence of missile performance to support certification. We also ensure functional and mechanical requirements are flown down to the sub-assemblies within the missile. The principle requirements of the Mechanical Architect are to: Lead overall product structure, mechanical interfaces and architecture Act as focus for all missile mechanical architecture issues and investigations Lead architectural trades with relevant partners Ensure embodiment of generic policies e.g. modularity, re-use, design for assembly Undertake missile-level technology maturity and design complexity assessments Lead relationship with Product Design Lead program Phase Gate reviews Technical management of suppliers driving dedication to deliver on time on cost Accountable for assigned budgets Leadership, both technical and managerial, of engineering team What we're looking for from you: Educated to degree level with significant industrial experience Experience of electro-mechanical & mechanical design Experience developing proving logic and leading the generation of compliance evidence Desire and determination for on time, on cost and on quality delivery Proven track record to foster and lead collaborative teams Shown ability to influence senior partners Ability to lead in an international environment and understand cultural issues We are also interested in a proficient understanding of broader engineering fields, such as Materials, Tolerancing, Configuration Control, Vibration, Shock, Fatigue, Six Sigma & Lean Design, Systems Engineering V-model, DFMEA Strong interpersonal and well-developed communication skills Our Business: We respect new perspectives and experiences, and we value our collaborative ways of working.
