To help us to live out our mission. we are seeking to appoint an excellent Head of Science who will lead and manage a thriving department of specialist and highly experienced practitioners. The existing department includes a Head of Department who is a recognised SLE, two experienced seconds in Department, two key stage pastoral leads and the Academy’s lead for Initial Teacher Training thereby demonstrating our commitment to professional development within the school. The Department has recently extensively reviewed its curriculum and has high academic standards for all students. Collectively, all staff are ambitious for everyone they teach and have a strong focus upon teaching and learning across all key stages, including the sixth form in which all three strands are taught to A Level standard as part of the Trinity Sixth Form. The Academy has an A-level value added score which is amongst the best in the area. Also of note is the thriving STEM work that is carried out across the Department and the enthusiasm shared by the students. The successful candidate will join a thriving and dynamic department of specialist Scientists which currently achieves high standards as a result of exceptional teamwork and dedication. The newly appointed Head of Department will need to demonstrate their own passion and enthusiasm for Science at all key stages as well as demonstrate curriculum leadership aptitude and qualities.
