Senior Bereavement/Specialist Palliative Care Counselling Coordinator
An exciting opportunity has arisen in Carmarthenshire Bereavement Support Services.
We are advertising for a Senior Bereavement/ Specialist Palliative Care Counselling Co-ordinator.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of a high standard of cost-effective pre and post, adult and child bereavement/specialist palliative care counselling without direct supervision. This will be based upon evidence-based practice in line with the legal requirements, statutory and Health Board policies relating to practice.
You will be responsible for ensuring that clients receive a safe, individualised and effective service by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating their care. You will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other team members, contribute to developing and maintaining the service philosophy for both adults and children working within the hospital environment and in the community.
You will be responsible for the management, supervision and co-ordination of counsellors/volunteers/students' caseloads, development of their practice as well as their personal development.
Main duties of the job
1. Participate in the maintenance and development of high quality support and care to clients within the Hywel Dda University Health Board area.
2. Research evidence, best practice and expert clinical judgement will underpin this service.
3. Have supported responsibility for managing a defined caseload without direct supervision.
4. The post-holder will assess, monitor and co-ordinate a holistic, individualised, therapeutic programme of care in partnership with clients, and professionals appropriate to need, context and culture. The aim of this is to empower and promote health. This will be performed utilising recognised assessment tools as well as clinical judgement and an identified model of health promotion.
5. Establish, and on-going development of, an educational programme for the teaching of professionals across the Health Board.
6. Act as the Service Lead whilst attending and contributing to multi-disciplinary team meetings.
7. Acknowledge and promote best practice, whilst recognising and reporting appropriately unsafe practice.
8. Provide accurate information tailored to individual need and understanding clients regarding the pre and post bereavement process.

Qualifications and Knowledge
* Relevant Diploma Adult/Child Counselling or equivalent
* Accredited with BACP
* Qualification in Supervision for Adult/Child counsellors to master's level
* Evidence of relevant Grief/End of Life practice together with Adult/Child counselling
* Related Counselling qualifications
* Experience of working in the NHS/Hospice setting

* Experience of working in Adult/Child Grief/End of Life/Bereavement Counselling
* Experience of Receiving Clinical Supervision
* Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams
* Evidence of broad spectrum of relevant Adult/Child/End of Life counselling experience
