About Us S. Norton is a leading British metals recycler playing a key role in the global circular economy for raw materials. We recycle over 1.5m tonnes of waste metals every year, supplying customers across the world from small refineries to large multinational organisations. We have developed sorting and separation processes to allow us to recycle ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals from a range of sources such as end of life vehicles, light iron and waste electrical and electronic goods (WEEE). We produce a range of co-products such as recycled polymers, fuels and aggregates, ensuring these materials are reused and diverted from landfill. Weve been in business for more than 60 years and were continuing to grow, acquiring new sites and developing and investing in our operations across the UK while we work to achieve our aim of zero waste About the Role Weighbridges are an essential element of the metal purchasing process; they are sited at each depot and are open typically between the hours of 06.45 to 17.00 on weekdays and 07.00 until 12 noon on Saturdays. This is a front-line role where attention to detail and excellent customer service is of paramount importance. Key Responsibilities: To notify the line manager of any anomalies, defects or concerns with the weighbridge To direct vehicles to appropriate unloading areas via the yardman on duty at the time To weigh vehicles on and off-site using computer-based weighbridge software To enter details of scrap vehicles onto the computer-based FADS vehicle de-registering system To ensure all directions and/or notifications highlighted by FADS are adhered to, ensuring no stolen vehicles are accepted for destruction To inform the site manager of any stolen vehicle notifications To complete all documentation relating to the weighbridge and its associated processes and procedures, including but not limited to a daily record of materials in and out of the site About you: Excellent time management and organizational skills Flexible approach to working hours to ensure the smooth operation of the weighbridge The ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines An analytical, problem-solving approach Excellent attention to detail Clear effective communication; in person, in writing and on the telephone Educated to GCSE level or equivalent standard in English and Maths IT literate with the ability to use a range of packages applicable to the role The ability to use own initiative and work alone as well as part of a team
