Position Overview:
The EHS advisor will be a key figure in instilling a culture of health, safety, and environmental excellence. Through the continual improvement of EHS management systems and the development of a culture of collaboration and engagement the EHS advisor will be front and centre in making the step change.
Taking a worker-centric approach to safety whilst upholding and developing a just and fair culture, the EHS advisor will work closely with the EHS manager and operations teams spanning manufacturing, site engineering and capital projects teams.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the development and embedding of an improving safety culture across all areas of the business.
2. Provide Environment, Health and Safety guidance and advice to all levels in the business, ensuring employees have the required knowledge and awareness to improve practices and operate safely.
3. Design and deliver EHS training to all levels of the site team.
4. Monitor and drive completion of site compliance tasks including closing the gaps actioned through the site legal registers.
5. Build new processes and systems to support achievement of best-in-class EHS management.
6. Lead and assist in site investigations, always placing the emphasis on learning and improving.
7. Gather relevant data to support and carry out statutory reporting as per business and external requirements including regulatory.
8. Maintain waste, emissions, and energy records in line with statutory requirements.
Skills & Experience:
1. Designing, writing, and implementing EHS processes.
2. Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills.
3. Working knowledge of environmental permitting and statutory reporting.
4. Operation and maintenance of ISO 14001 certified management system.
5. Providing internal training to employees at all levels.
6. Reviewing and supporting the risk assessment process.
7. Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with an ability to challenge and question all levels within the organisation.
8. Flexible approach with an open-minded attitude to achieving results.
Qualifications/Education:
1. Level 5 qualification in Health and Safety Management.
2. High Hazard industry experience.
3. Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
