Priory Hospital Newbury is a Mental Health Hospital rated as outstanding by CQC. Newbury has 30 beds made up of male Recovery and Rehabilitation and mixed Acute wards. Set on the southern outskirts of Newbury, we have a full and diverse MDT including Psychology, Creative Therapists, Consultant Psychiatrists, and excellent physical health care provided by a Lead Nurse and an incredible GP. There are excellent public transport links to Reading, Basingstoke, and London which is just a 50-minute train journey.

We are looking to recruit two dynamic, reliable, and creative Night Deputy Ward Managers to join our Nursing Management Team on our new acute ward.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Taking a lead role in managing referrals and admissions on a night shift.
2. Assisting the Ward Managers in managing the ward and resources effectively, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix of nursing experience and skills.
3. Ensuring that all members of the night nursing team receive clinical supervision.
4. Acting as a highly visible role model, mentor, and leader, creating a culture that promotes learning, development, inquiry, and professionalism.
5. Disseminating, implementing, and monitoring compliance with relevant policies and statutory requirements of the hospital, division, and group.
6. Taking appropriate action to ensure that the standard of care that patients receive is of the highest standard.
7. Ensuring that all patients have clear current care plans that reflect their personalised needs and are evidence-based, engaging family members and carers as needed.
8. Assisting in ensuring the ward has clear procedures and processes to support the safe and effective running of the ward at all times.
9. Ensuring that the legislative frameworks regarding the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberties are applied in accordance with Company Policy and National Requirements.
10. Being responsible for Medicines Management in their Clinical Area/Ward.
11. Engaging with other members of the Ward MDT to facilitate positive and efficient MDT working.
We are seeking a confident and reliable professional who has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and non-verbal, and the ability to regularly deal with demanding and difficult situations.
You will be currently registered with the Nursing Midwifery Council as a mental health nurse, with at least 18 months to 2 years of experience post-registration. You will be computer literate with experience in quality compliance monitoring. Being a trained and current mentor and having acute experience will be an added advantage.
