Outline of the role
Our design co-ordinator will play a key role in the successful delivery of our civil projects by provide managing all aspects of delivery of the design from contract award through to completion, ensuring that the design is delivered to programme, has been reviewed by the team, gained Client approval and subsequently to answer queries and resolve challenges during the construction phase and to assist in preparing for completion by managing the handover process. For this role you will be required to travel on a weekly basis, being based onsite three days per week, with the remaining days being based either from one of our main office locations or home working.
Projects
Our civil engineering division work across Transportation, Water, Marine and Energy as a whole, the role available will be assisting the Design team to support the large Water framework projects.
We have been awarded several contracts with Northumbrian Water which will be providing resilience to the water supply in England, with current works located in Durham and Barsham.This is in addition to our current work with Anglian Water, Affinity Water, Northern Ireland Water, and Irish Water.
As a Design Co-ordinator you will be responsible for
1. Managing the development of the design from contract award through to completion
2. Providing clear direction to designers for all information and monitoring progress
3. Managing to ensure designs are co-ordinated and approved in advance of the construction programme
4. Reviewing all design information to ensure compliance, buildability, financial viability, temporary works
5. Contribute to the management of risk & opportunity and value engineering
6. Resolve technical problems and design issues that emerge and share solutions to the wider team
7. Actively work to minimise risk to the Contractor from potential defects, potential hazards and non-compliance Advise on protocol and procedures for formalised workflows for formatted information
8. Implementation of BIM as required by the Project / assist BIM Manager
9. Support the Client as to their duties under CDM regulations and their obligations in the development of a design
Required Skills and Experience
10. Proven design co-ordination experience within the Civils industry Strong understanding of modern construction techniques, plant, and equipment
11. In-depth knowledge of all aspects of civil engineering projects
12. Contractually aware and conversant with common forms of contract & NEC, JCT etc
13. Advanced knowledge in the complete MS Office suite, Asta Powerproject, AutoCAD
14. Proficient in the use of document management systems
15. Knowledge of MEICA integration into Civils design BIM experience and actively encourage its use on live projects
16. Educated to Degree Level in a Civil / Structural Engineering or related qualification
17. Hold a manual full UK Driving License
