As a Credit Risk/IFRS 9 Modelling Manager, you will guide a small team of dedicated modellers and data scientists in creating risk and macroeconomic models to predict the Bank’s loan loss provisions.
The scope of the role is broad, covering various types of models within the IFRS 9 provisioning framework, and providing exposure to different business areas including both retail and commercial banking products and customers.
Your team will focus on the development, validation, ongoing management, and monitoring of these models, ensuring high-quality support for stakeholders across Risk and Finance.
Main Responsibilities:
* Oversee the scoping, design, development, validation, and implementation of credit risk models, ensuring they align with the Bank’s standards and meet regulatory compliance requirements.
* Ensure the integrity and relevance of the existing Retail and Business IFRS 9 loan loss provision models, ensuring they remain robust and fit for purpose.
* Present model outputs and insights to both internal and external stakeholders within the Risk function and beyond.
* Prepare comprehensive model documentation and provide well-founded recommendations to governance committees.
* Offer subject matter expertise and business enablement support related to model usage across the Bank.
* Monitor emerging model risks and provide insightful summaries through the governance framework.
* Foster the growth and development of team members, ensuring their continuous learning and progress.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Extensive experience leading model development initiatives for Retail or Business credit portfolios, with a clear understanding of how models are applied operationally.
* Strong technical experience in model development within the banking sector, with a focus on model application and performance.
* Proficient in using statistical analysis tools such as SAS, Python, or R, alongside strong competency with MS Office.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a demonstrated ability to listen, understand, and provide professional responses.
* Experience in managing priorities, contributing to strategic planning, and supporting decision-making processes.
* Strong analytical thinking and the ability to make informed, sound decisions.
* Proven success in influencing and engaging with key stakeholders.
