About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 14 Head of New Product Development, Global Insight The Team : Global Insight (GI) is a $400M business line that combines Research, Data, Analytics, Workflow, Expert, and Consulting Services to enable market participants to gain insight into global economics and trade, assess, manage, monetize, and monitor risk. The Business Lines include Global Risk & Economics, Global Trade & Supply Chain, Third Party Risk & Compliance, delivered through Desktop, Enterprise platforms (including APIs, Feeds, and cloud), consulting, and third-party platforms. The Impact : The Head of New Product Development spearheads innovative solutions that leverage alternative and big data, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), generative AI (Gen AI), and novel statistical research to differentiate our offerings and accelerate our growth strategy in target markets. This role will focus on developing Prototypes, Proof of Concepts, and fully functional live modules that can be scaled and launched through collaboration with our Technology, Analytical and Model Operations teams. They will lead, coach, and develop a global team of professionals with experience in data, software engineering, and computational engineering. Contribute to the overall business's organic and inorganic growth, Product and Business strategy, as well as its execution, and connect with the industry to monitor trends and build our brand. Key Accountabilities: Solutions/Model development: In partnership with Product, Business Leads, Go-to-Market, and Insight and Analytics teams: identify and prioritize ideas with highest likely impact to the business (revenue growth, efficiencies) and scalability; engage with clients to gather requirements and vet proof of concepts and prototypes with clients; implement a rigorous stage-gated process to stop/progress initiative through the process Accelerate the product development of complex and innovative products and features by developing Proof of Concepts, fully functional Prototypes for data and analytics, and workflow solutions leveraging alternative and big data, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), generative AI (Gen AI), and novel statistical research Work with the Risk Model Development and Economics Models and Scenario teams to align deliverables within the analytical framework and governance Exploratory Data Analysis & Data Mining Assess the availability and coverage of data suitable for model development and deliver scalable solutions to support business priorities across credit, risk, regulatory/tax, trade, maritime, and economics. Bring new techniques to analyze alternative data sets and big data, while collaborating with other analytical teams. Vendor Evaluation: Identify and vet data vendors/partners to gain access to and rights to data. Lead a thorough data analysis to identify operational or commercial value in third-party datasets, with a particular focus on non-traditional and alternative datasets that can be leveraged to achieve specific business objectives, working closely with the S&P Global Enterprise Data Operations and Content Acquisition Team. Manage digital rights, contract licensing, and legal aspects of leveraging data, insights, and S&P IP within the Client’s AI-based solutions, balancing the flexibility of market participants to use our data with the need to preserve S&P IP. Advanced Development Combining data science tools, open-source technologies, and proprietary technologies to deliver scalable, production-ready workflows that address or support a specific business challenge. Applied Natural Language Processing techniques, Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning, Neural Networks, time series forecasting, term structure modeling, Named Entity Recognition, AI, including generative AI/LLM/RAGs … Leveraging multiple context-sensitive agents to provide generative AI-based products that curate content and data to a targeted context. Enterprise Mindset: Collaborate across teams within S&P Global to ensure optimal resource allocation and seamless flow of partial deliverables across the teams’ timelines Contribute to the Global Insight Product and Business strategy, including partnerships, inorganic growth, and innovation opportunities; provide expertise in AI, ML, and Gen AI for vendor, partnership, and acquisition analysis. Contribute to building the GI brand in this space by engaging with the market through public speaking, conferences, case studies, and thought leadership on the applications of data science, AI, and alternative data in developing risk management systems. Team Management: Design, develop, and nurture a high-performing, scalable, diverse, and accountable organization to create and deliver against the New Product Development set of goals and objectives. Prioritize open communication and message clarity. Ability and ambition to lead others by example. Experience/Skills Proven experience in developing new products leveraging alternative and big data using a wide range of tools, including AI Business and Product management mindset: Proven ability to scope, vet, and size ideas, build roadmaps, and align efforts with business priorities. Identify “low-hanging fruits”, clients’ pain points, winning and sticky features; consider client attitudes towards risk, reliability, and accuracy. Experience in Risk and/or Economics is desirable Experience managing talent that combines data, operations research, software engineering, and computational engineering Strong team management experience: proven ability to build, scale, manage, and develop high-performance teams distributed across multiple geographies Technical skillset. Demonstrated ability/experience with Python, R, SQL App Dev & Deployment: Shiny, Streamlit, Posit Connect API Dev: REST Experience working with Data Sci/ML Platform Tools such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS Highly developed project management and organizational skills Strong analytical skills.
