This FTSE listed gaming organisation is recruiting for an Indirect Tax Manager to join the existing tax function based in London, reporting to the Group Head of Indirect Tax, and taking primary responsibility for managing the delivery of VAT compliance for the Group. You will also support the Group Head of Indirect Tax in the provision of VAT advice to the business and on groupwide projects. You will have support from an offshore shared service centre.
Main duties:
VAT Compliance and Reporting
* Managing the group's indirect tax compliance timetable, ensuring that VAT filings and payments deadlines for all group companies are met.
* A key stakeholder of the Shared Service Centre tax team to oversee the preparation, perform detailed review and monitor the filing of the quarterly UK, Ireland, Malta, and Jersey VAT returns.
* Review the calculation of VAT payments / payments on account.
* Responsible for preparation of the UK and Malta partial exemption method, annual adjustments, and capital goods scheme adjustments.
* Ensuring timely payment of indirect tax liabilities.
* Lead the relationship with all of our third party advisors on any aspects of the above including filing and payments.
* Responsible for VAT balance sheet account reconciliations; coordinating indirect tax accounting and reporting processes to support the management accounting team with monthly tax provisions for all companies within the group.
* Support the Head of Indirect Tax with any queries raised and audits conducted by tax authorities, including assisting with obtaining factual information and supporting documentation.
* Managing the companies' tax advisers and their auditors, together with the Head of Indirect Tax.
Controls and processes including assurance
* Proactively monitoring changes in legislation, assessing the impact on the business, and assisting in any required changes.
* Ensuring we document our tax calculation policies and return submission processes.
* Seek out process improvements to support indirect tax compliance, including greater automation, use of pre-agreed "information packs", etc.
Advisory
* Support the Head of Indirect Tax and wider Group Tax team in respect of ad-hoc projects and initiatives as required.
* Providing VAT advice and support to business teams and other functions (e.g. Accounts Payable) on day-to-day queries and transactions and ensuring that VAT risk is appropriately managed.
* Assist in providing training to key business areas as required.
You will need to be a qualified tax specialist or accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, CTA, or ATT qualified) with a strong background in indirect tax compliance gained through working either in-house for a large corporation or from working on such clients from within the profession. You will need to understand the role and challenges of working in a global company and have the ability to quickly understand complex commercial transactions, manage delivery and give an opinion. You will need to be a good communicator, confident and articulate in supporting the business and collaborating with advisers.
