Due to the strengthening of our manufacturing sites we now have an open vacancy for a Head of Operations role, reporting to the Managing Director, based at our Vantage Point Site, heading up the Waterloo area of the business and therefore taking responsibility on all aspects of Production, stock management, purchasing, health & safety and facilities and maintenance. Position Summary The Head of Operations will work to develop a longer term operations and investment strategy to support the growth ambitions of the business, whilst also taking active leadership in day to day decision making. Main duties and responsibilities Leadership and management of the operational teams responsible for: Planning and scheduling, production management, quality control. Interpret business strategy and define plan to implement. Responsible for defining department/function KPI’s with regular monitoring, challenging and recovery of targets where required. Challenge Budgets, P&L, Overheads with department heads to look for opportunities – support department heads in implementing improvements. CAPEX review, in line with site, BU and Group strategies authorisation at appropriate level. OPEX and other financial constraints managed to budget. Monitoring and controlling; Safety, Quality (co-ordinated with the Quality Manager), Capacity and Cost through the production process from raw material to finished goods. Maintain an up to date overview of Plant/Premises maintenance, equipment life expectancy (coupled with predicted future volumes as supplied by product management) and availability. Stores and Materials Management Active Engagement with Technical, Engineering, Customer Services, SHEQ, Despatch, Materials Management, Marketing to take greater view in assisting in their objectives. Establish, embed and sustain a continuous improvement culture across the entire production team, coaching and mentoring team leaders and supervisors to use structured methods such as quality circles and CIP Teams to raise employee engagement increase efficiency and raise product quality. Act as a role model of professional operational management, delivering timely, pragmatic and high-quality decision making to meet the needs of the company and our customers. Required Experience 10 years proven experience in a similar role ideally within manufacturing or a similar industry Desirable Experience Wider procurement and supply chain leadership competence ERP and systems background Essential Qualifications/Education Degree in Business Management, Business Studies, Mechanical or Production Engineering based or similar. Desirable Qualifications Formal lean manufacturing or continuous improvement training Health & Safety qualification LI-NA1
